For years, the residents of Chinchala Village in Bhokar Taluka, Nanded District, Maharashtra, struggled with a severe drinking water crisis. Contaminated water was not only affecting the daily lives of villagers but also raising serious health concerns. Community members reported several cases of paralysis-like conditions and feared that prolonged consumption of unsafe water was impacting the health of newborn babies, children, and mothers. Many families lived with the constant worry that the water they depended on was harming their loved ones.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Avaada Foundation undertook a comprehensive safe drinking water project to provide the village with access to clean and potable water. Before implementation, laboratory testing of the borewell water revealed alarming results, including high TDS (1258 mg/L), excessive hardness (452 mg/L), elevated nitrate levels (64 mg/L), and the presence of E. coli and total coliform bacteria, making the water unsuitable for human consumption as per BIS 10500:2015 standards.

To address these challenges, Avaada Foundation drilled a new borewell, constructed a dedicated water station room, and is installing a 1000 LPH RO water purification system to ensure the supply of safe, treated drinking water. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and improve overall health, hygiene, and well-being in the village.

In addition, the Foundation is developing rainwater harvesting facilities to support groundwater recharge and promote long-term water sustainability.

For the past several years, Avaada Foundation has been creating safe drinking water infrastructure across communities, schools, and villages, helping thousands gain access to clean water. Through this initiative, Chinchala Village is moving toward a healthier future where every family can drink water without fear and live with dignity and hope.
